Gas Processing

Oxy operates numerous gas processing facilities, applying practices such as elimination of water, elimination of inert or harmful components, removal of hydrocarbon liquids, refrigeration and compression to make natural gas saleable, useful and safe.

Some of the largest of these facilities are associated with Oxy's CO2 floods in the Permian Basin of southwest Texas and southeast New Mexico. These plants separate the produced CO2 from the gas, creating a saleable hydrocarbon gas and reclaiming the CO2 for reinjection.
